We contributed to a weekend of events and workshops at NIASH as part of the ANTI-UNIVERSITY NOW! 2015 festival. Our performance, entitled ‘Human Pylon – Pole Dance’, was an experimental workshop which explored movement and sound creation themes using ‘Pole Suits’ and meditation. This performance is part of a larger ongoing body of work, ‘Elemental Co-ordinators’ and part of our contribution to the Protagonists residency at NIASH, 2015.
The Pole Suits were based on Oskar Schlemmer’s Metal and Stick Dances, and inspired by the movements created by the dancers. We used contact microphones and a series of pedals to record the sounds and create feedback whilst we performed. The recorded sounds will be used in another piece of work at a later date.
